The Inter-Hotel Challenge ~ South Africa 2025, now in its 13th year featuring 30 top hotels emphasises the critical role of mentorship in shaping the next generation of South African hospitality professionals.
By broadening horizons and inspiring career growth, the Challenge supports young men and women who go on to become pillars of the country’s thriving hospitality industry. Hospitality forms the backbone of tourism, a cornerstone industry for South Africa. Sustaining the high standards for which our country is globally recognised is paramount.
Our mentorship program thrives on the passionate commitment of hotels, their management teams, sommeliers, executive chefs, farmers, food producers, and educators across various disciplines. These collaborative efforts create pathways for greater economic opportunity and inclusion.
Well-trained hospitality and tourism staff often progress to senior positions, paving the way for new entrants into the industry. To date, approximately 2,150 candidates have benefitted from the specialised training offered by this prestigious initiative. These essential foundational steps foster inclusivity within the tourism sector, elevate service standards, enhance guest experiences, and bolster South Africa’s travel reputation—ensuring the country is well-prepared to accommodate its growing influx of tourists.
